There were a few pics on their home page, but those were all group shots of seniors and didn't really show anything of the school itself.

My 5 year old is convinced that there are only two places in the world...China and Jacksonville, Florida?

My 5 year old is convinced that there are only two places in the world...China and Jacksonville, Florida?
He'll be starting school this year so should I just let his teacher explain it to him? Since I'm his dad, I really just want to hang out with him and eat donuts, you know?

ahh you madcap alien you. you should let that miss south carolina learn him about geography.

2
He'll learn soon enough. Get those donuts!

3
if he were mine, i would show him a globe. show him where china is, where jax is and explain that there are alot of cities in between..

4
Buy one those kids maps and show him where Jacksonville Florida is and then show him where China is and then show him other places in relation to them. Or you could buy a kid's globe and try that also, or take him somewhere that has one, like a science museum or children's museum. Young kids like that are very stubborn and sometimes won't believe you until they see it visually. Are you going on a trip out of town this summer? That would help him as well, even if it's a day trip to a nearby town.

5
Just do like most dad's and let him learn everything in the school yard. You could teach him how to drink and shotgun a beer before he is 7

6
Draw a map of earth with crullers. Jelly-filled make great volcanoes.

7
Your 5 year old could well be right. You two just hang out with the donuts. I wish I could hang out with you. Sounds like you both have great fun. Enjoy every second of your 5 year old's company. Children grow up too fast these days. God bless you both.

8
Sure, that should be an easy one for the teacher to cover after she's done explaining how her "dad" is actually a transvestite, and not a man with abnormally soft skin and 36C's.

9
He needs to be learning how to lift skirts for peeks and such...leave the map crap to a trained professional.

10
There are plenty of disappointments out there in the world.... hang & eat donuts ... let the Teacher be the Heavy.

Most, or dare I say, all High Schools in Jacksonville have block schedule, each day 4 classes, equaling 8 classes in total. However, because of the budget cuts, and the classes that they are cutting, they are still deciding on the schedule for next year. From what I hear, we might get out of school an hour earlier, so we might have 7 classes. But as or right now, most schools are offering 8 classes to students, 4 each day. Just to name a few schools in Jacksonville would be Stanton, Forrest, Ed White, Paxon, Douglas Anderson...

ACT school? anyone ever heard of it?

ACT school? anyone ever heard of it?
If you havent its this school here in jacksonville florida, its suppose to be a good school, but i dont know anybody thats been there. Its suppose to help with medical feilds etc. and i really wanna be a MA. Schools only 9 months. thats quick and easy and i dont need a ged even though i already took it and failed the math part. I was just wondering if anyone thought this would be a smarter move then just retaking the math part of the ged and trying to get a job?

Being an MA requires you to be good at math. You'll have to do calculations all the time. So becoming an MA as a way to avoid math is not an option. So why not do both? You can take the GED test without taking the classes. And I'm sure your MA class will have a math course. So why not schedule a GED test about the time you complete your MA course?

University of Florida or George Washington University?

University of Florida or George Washington University?
I want to major in International Relations and possibly even go for my Master's Degree. I'm mostly just wondering what university would be better suited for me. I'm from Jacksonville, Florida which is about an hour and a half away from UF. Other than the fact that it's the top FL school I want to go to, it's also one of the closest to my house (other than the Jacksonville colleges, of course). Though I'm very into the politically scene and I would LOVE to try to intern for a Congress member or even at the White House.

Place the name of each school separately into your favorite search engine and then add the phrase reviews and ratings. Compare and contrast them.

For a graduate program, GWU hands down. But for your undergraduate, you really ought to consider how much it will cost and how much debt you want to have when you leave college. UF is an excellent school - go there.

With your plans to go to school, plus get an apartment, would be tough at your age. Possibly you could get some room mates to help with the rent. I've seen too many kids get a car loan with parents co-signing the loan, default when expenses got too rough and the parents get stuck with the bill. You've seen the news where the federal government is bailing out banks that loan money to people who couldn't pay the loan. I really doubt anyone is going to give an 18 year old a car loan. Save your money and do the cash car thing untill you're older and can build some credit. Sam's Club or Walmart credit card would be my first choice for a credit card. Remember to pay the bill in full each month, the interest is really high. Good luck

hair salon school vs. professional salon?

hair salon school vs. professional salon?
I am looking to get my hair colored and high-lighted. With my budget cuts, I really cannot afford to go to a professional salon. I looked into the Paul Mitchell school here in Jacksonville, Florida. I am nervous about having a student coloring and hightlighting my hair. Has anyone every been to a hair school for a hair service, how did it turn out? Has anyone been to the new Paul Mitchell school at the Towne Center Mall in Jacksonville, Florida yet? I just need to know if the hair colors and service is comparable to a professional salon. Thank you

I can understand being afraid. But when going to a school you have teachers watching over. The students arent left alone. I wouldn't be afraid of a Paul Mitchell school. That is a top school for cosmetologist.

salon school is fine they have professionally trained staff watching them
