Where do I ask questions about specializing in medical fields?
I am planning on going to college in Jacksonville, Florida for histology, but am thinking about going back to college after that to specialize in ALS. Do I search for a medical school or a regular college? Where can I ask questions about careers in this field? I found the official ALS Association website, but are there others?

Since you are under 18, MAKE SURE YOUR PARENTS ARE INVOLVED! You need a Talent Agent to get serious auditions. To get an agent, you need to get GREAT headshots, a good resume, and training from the best. These are enough to get you a commercial agent at least. Getting a GOOD theatrical agent (Film/tv) takes longer. Most good theatrical agents won’t see you unless you’re SAG, have a polished resume, and a demo reel. Commercial agents are more lenient about that. What the best Commercial agents want to see on your resume are good commercial classes, improv, and cold reading. You can get an agent multiple ways. Here are a few common ways: -Mail in an unsealed manilla envelope with a CONCISE coverletter and headshot with the resume stapled on the back. If you have a demoreel include that too. -Attend a showcase and impress them. By showcase I do not mean scammy conventions like IMTA, IPOP, Proscout, or Best New Talent. I mean legit ones like at Actor Connection, Reel pros, Network Studios, etc. -Get a referral from a friend who is with the agency that you’re interested in DON’T -Email them unless they tell you to. IT’S UNPROFESSIONAL! -Call unless they tell you to. ALSO UNPROFESSIONAL! -Walk in and ask for a meeting. UNPROFESSIONAL THREE! -Sign with them if they ask for upfront money, make you take new photos with THEIR photographer, or take THEIR classes. Agent’s ONLY make money when you do. Agents usually make 10% on film/tv and commercials and 20% on commercial print. For the agent interview, be yourself. The agents want to know your personality. Create a conversation with him or her. If you're in the room for at least 45 minutes, they like you. Also, be prepared to have a monologue or two. Better yet, if you have a good scene you can ask the agent to read the other part with you. Look up LEGIT agencies here: http://www.agentassociation.com/ http://www.sag.org/content/find-agent Sample Resume: http://i707.photobucket.com/albums/ww80/ELDORADO59/scan0002.jpg Avoiding BAD Headshots: http://bbs.backstage.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/8011031/m/110106342

You can go call or just visit movie production studios for auditions. I live in Greenwood Florida and it's nowhere from tallahassee and pensacola so I can use their airports for transportation. I don't know that much about agents and acting agencies. But to let you know I audition for a movie named Battle Los Angeles that has been filming since the begining of September but I lost the part to Lucas Til. If you really are into acting you should really call the movie studio that is in charge of the movie you want to be in. Also call the studios and ask for audition dates for the characters!!!

Go to collegebound.com! They have everything you need there. I'd try the Art Institute in Orlando. I was going to go there, but it's kind of pricey. Just be sure that's what you want to do. That was my first major and it's a lot of hard work, dedication, and precision. Good luck!

Which has the better temperatue-Austin,Texas or Jacksonville,Florida?

Which has the better temperatue-Austin,Texas or Jacksonville,Florida?
Which is less humid? Where is it easier to play football? Which has better temperature during school months(August-May/June)? which is the more enjoyable city to live in?

less humid: Jacksonville could be anyone's opinion but i would prefer Jacksonville Austin is beating Hot in the summer, i have never been to Jacksonville but i would say Jacksonville is better to play in umm i would say Jacksonville if you dont really like the heat.

2
Austin Is Less Humid Florida & Texas Are both Hot Beds of Great Football Players. Texas

3
Texas is less humid and therefore not feel quite as hot. Florida is REALLY humid and it feels like its over 100 all the time. I would say austin texas

4
Well, in austin it seems like you're breathing the same hot humid air in september that you were in june, jacksonville at least has sea breezes that make it cooler in my opinion. But thats summer. During school, austins temps can range from twenties to nineties, jacksonville seems to be pretty constantly mild, so it would be nicer, unless youre a snow person.

5
You should come to Jacksonville...on top of playing football, you can watch JAGUARS GAMES and arena football Sharks

6
Austin has the higher ambient temperatures - in summer, not that unusual to hit triple digits. Jacksonville is a rarity to hit 100, but 90s are frequent and high humidity is the norm - however, these are somewhat mitigated by the fairly-constant sea breezes. Wintertime, Jacksonville is probably more comfortable...parts of Texas can get really cold and snowy, while JAX seldom fails to at least make it into the 40s during the day and snow is a once-in-a-decade occurrance. Football is probably fairly miserable in both spots during training and the first month or so of the season - conditions in Jacksonville approach ideal in November and December. Enjoymentwise, tough to say, but Jacksonville has a fairly active entertainment scene and all the big tourist attractions are within a couple of hours drive.

7
Jacksonville is better, and besides its in Florida, Florida has great weather from what ive heard just a random thing: Houston, Texas would be the worst place to play, its humid AND hot on top of each other its like you can feel peoples sweat in the air its disgusting

college and high school dual enrollment question?

college and high school dual enrollment question?
Right now i'm a junior in high school and I've been taking college courses at a Florida State College at Jacksonville, I've been taking three classes each semester since the summer before my junior year. When it comes to the summer before my senior year, I will only have 5 courses to take before I get my AA. I was wondering if I took 5 classes that summer and got my AA before I started my senior year, if I could still take college classes during my senior year while they're free?

2
HEY! I'm an Early College (at Lee) graduate who got an AA degree from FSCJ. First off, I would not recommend 5 classes for the summer, that load is way too big. I would highly recommend spreading out your classes all the way to your Spring Senior semester so there is no issue with financing. I kind of doubt that they will pay for it since the purpose of the program is to get an AA degree and nothing else.

Joining a school of arts?

Joining a school of arts?
When I was in 6th grade, I wanted to join the Lavilla School of the arts, but got accepted into James Weldon Johnson College Prep. I attended jwj for 2 years, becofre going back to a regular school Now for my upcoming highschool year, I would Like to join Douglas Anderson school of the arts in Jacksonville florida for dance. I took dance at age 5, in ballet, but have since quit. Would it be a good idea to join an arts school in the area of dance, if i have no previous experiance? Its a regular highschool too, it just focuses more on arts like singing, design, theatre and dance.

Right now the economy/market is SATURATED with WAY TOO MANY Legal Professionals. ("Legal Professionals" includes, but is not limited to: Attorneys/Lawyers, Paralegals, Legal Assistants, Legal Secretaries, Bailiffs, Court Reporters, etc, etc.) So even IF you finish your studies, you are going to have a VERY difficult time finding a job - the market in the field of Law is fierce. Law schools do not tell their students the truth >that the market/economy is SATURATED! A law student is easy money for a law school. Suggestion: Consider and look into the field of HEALTHCARE! <this is where the jobs are! (even with your background) and scholarships! Good luck.

I am 14, my mother and I are moving to Jacksonville from Michigan next year. We were looking at Wolfson High and homes in San Jose or Baymeadows. I want to know what the schools are like, how good the neighborhoods are. If it is a safe place, and some other good places in Florida.

Neighborhood schools in Jacksonville suck big time! Now magnet schools (look at webite below if you don't know what it is) are good but you have to apply for a lottery and be drawn to be accepted. Yeah, it's kinda safe around Jacksonville. Areas around Wolfson are pretty safe, and it's a nice area as far as homes and people. E-mail me to learn more

2
I would say move to Fla but north fla gets winter too. Stay in NY where the people are much cooler

3
Im a new yorker and 23..Though i LOVE nyc i wish i can leave. My opinion its very easy to get stuck here as an adult. Go to florida its so nice there!

4
Haha florida is sweet, lived here 14 years and still counting :)

5
Move your little butt to Florida,, As quick as you can.

6
move to florida, im tired and poor living in nyc. too crowded and can never find any parking because traffic cops chase me. i dont know why manhattan restaurants charge 8 bucks for a salad and leaves. i dont have any money to have fun here.

7
I can't believe your parents are putting everything on your shoulders. While it is great that they are including you in the decision, they also need to take the lead here. Your parents need to evaluate this as adults. The entire family's needs and wants must come into focus. I hope you trust your parents enough ( and I hope they are responsible enough) to know what is best. If they do not decide--follow your heart, and realize that a decision of this magnitude should not be left to you at this age---no matter what happens, you have done as best as you can. You will be OK.

8
If someone offered me a free place to live in Florida I still wouldn't go. I think it's a very strange state and just don't like it. Other then Miami there is little to no culture. Although college towns have some. I so much prefer NY. here you get exposed to new things and new people every time you step outside your door. If you want to see anything new in Fla. you need to drive. My vote is NY. But i do agree it shouldn't be on your shoulders. You parents should make the decision that is best for the family in the long run.

9
stay in NYC. when you look back on it years later, you won't regret it. my parents did the same thing (move out of NYC), but i stayed in my school in Manhattan. part of your high school experience in NYC will be to meet all kinds of diverse people and be able to do all kinds of cultural stuff like visit museums and go to concerts and shows, and i bet that you will NOT get that kind of diversity and cultural life in Florida. when i was in high school, we always had special student discount tickets to all kinds of concerts and Broadway shows. besides, there's only one season in Florida: hot. at least here you have all four seasons. i wouldn't trade that for anything.

10
Ugh NO!!!!!!!!! I used to live in Manhattan then my mom got married to my step dad and he relocated to St. Augustine ( on Ponce De Leon Blvd) and now I live in boring Jacksonville, but im moving back back in three weeks. Stay in NY!! Everything you love with be gone, nothing is open 24 seven and life is so much slower and theres less to do unless you like chillin by the pool and the beach 24/7. Forget the warm weather! NYC gets warm too in the summer, and you cant wear something that you could walk around 5th Ave on down here like you could up there without getting weird stares from people (like wearing a scarf in the summer). If I got the chance to go back, I would have gone begged to stay. But its ultimately up to you, are you a culture, fashionperson, or a beach and chill person.

Transfer from British College to American High School..?

Transfer from British College to American High School..?
Hi, me and my Cousin are at College in England, I am seventeen, she is sixteen, we are looking to move to America (Jacksonville, Florida) thus entering Junior year of American High School, how can we go about finding a School that would take us at such stage and then applying for Visas, finding accommodation and actually moving etc. Also, as we are under 18 but under British law, allowed to emigrate, will we need a 'guardian' in Jacksonville or will we be permitted to live alone? Also will we be allowed to obtain an American Driving License? And would we be able to work in Jacksonville being of American School Age? I'm sure I'll think of more questions at some point lol, any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you x also, we already have various qualifications, mainly GCSEs, though our grades aren't exactly fantastic, would this be a contributing factor to our transfers?

First, understand that I'm working under my own assumptions, (I live in a different state) but as far as United States, I do believe that you need to prove to a Judge in US Court to be legally responsible for yourself and your cousin (you'll need to prove income, intentions for coming to the US, and other legal matters). Here, if a minor (under the age of 18) wants to apply for an apartment (which I'm assuming you will try to move into?) you will need help from the courts to apply. Our school system is set up in districts, if you live in a certain district, you will be placed in a certain school no questions asked (public schooling is not the same as your public schooling, it is a general admittance and our "private schooling" is "public schooling" in the UK... confusing, I know) If you want a certain high school, I added a link to Jacksonville Fl high schools that I Googled. Also, go to a government building in your area to get further information regarding visas and driving licenses. Good luck with everything, and don't forget: our drinking age doesn't start till 21! :)

3
Basically, you cannot without going through an exchange student program (such as AFS or YFU) OR finding a family to become your guardians while in the U.S (even then, a high school can refuse you). The high school will not admit you. Pretty simple -- forget this idea. You will be much better off waiting until you are in the university -- then none of the above problems will apply. In neither case, would you be able to work in the U.S. EXCEPT on a university campus for a few hours a week.

Moving to Jacksonville FL, I have some questions?

Moving to Jacksonville FL, I have some questions?
I'm thinking about moving to jacksonville florida to go back to school and start my life, but i have some questions. (I'm coming from a very small town so bear with me here.) Is it very densely populated, like NYC, or is it a little more spread out? also i'm thinking about bringing my car, would this be a good idea? is driving a hassle through the city? is parking a problem there? what are some nice areas to live in the city? I will be attending the Jacksonville Community College, are there any nice neighborhoods to live around there? also what is there to do for fun for a 21 year old guy in Jacksonville? I'm going down to visit but not for a few months so i just want to get an idea of what it is like.

Looks like I come to the rescue... Jacksonville, is a HUGE city and is most def. spread out. You can drive in Jacksonville for one hour and still be in jax. Def. bring your car, see above LOL. But if you're willing to bear the really long city bus rides, go ahead Driving shouldn't really be a hassle. It's a pretty straightforward city. And try not to drive in rush hour. It's Florida Community College at Jacksonville (FCCJ) and they have 4 campuses and a couple smaller centers...it is impossible to tell you the neighborhoods on those.
